Novak Djokovic awarded the special charter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia (30 May 2020)

At the ceremony held on May 29 on the occasion of the Day of Diplomacy of the Republic of Serbia, the most trophy-winning Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic received the Charter for exceptional personal engagement and contribution in promoting the interests of the Republic of Serbia and its people in the world. The prestigious recognition was handed over by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić.

The explanation of the decision on awarding the Charter reads:

"Idol of young people, not only because of sports results, but also because of confirmed personal qualities outside the sports field. It is difficult to find an example in recent history of such a young man who united the people with his successes in a strong experience of happiness and admiration through extraordinary victories, or again , sadness and disappointment, when it comes to rare defeats.Both through positive and through negative emotions he awakened our dormant spirit, gave us strength and inspired generations.He sent the world a message of a strong sports nation, talented and good people, who are proud of their history and tradition ".
