Serbia most important partner of Japan in region (24 December 2020)

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic wished welcome today to newly-appointed Ambassador of Japan to Serbia Takahiko Katsumata, stating that she is very satisfied with the progress of bilateral and economic relations of the two countries.

Bilateral relations between Serbia and Japan are the result of traditional friendship, mutual understanding and the upward trend of political dialogue, Brnabic said and added that she is personally satisfied with the exceptional success of Japanese companies on our market.

Speaking about the largest Japanese investment in Serbia and the world's largest tire manufacturer, Toyo Tires, whose construction recently began in Indjija, the Prime Minister stressed that Japanese investors have not only contributed to job creation and technology transfer, but also to raising the level of professionalism and work ethics in Serbia.

The trust of Japanese investors is important for our economy in many ways, the Prime Minister explained and emphasised that a greater presence of companies from this country directly affects the growth of the Serbian economy.

Katsumata confirmed that Serbia is the most important partner of Japan in the region of the Western Balkans and stated that Japan supports the economic reforms and European integration of Serbia and the region in principle.
