『東京まで、セルビア Srbija do Tokija』book by author Branka Takahashi launched at the Embassy on 13 January 2017

On 13 January 2017, on the eve of New Year’s according to the Julian calendar, Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Tokyo organized launch of the newly published book in Japanese language 『東京まで、セルビア Srbija do Tokija』("Serbia to Tokyo") by author Branka Takahashi published by “Michitani Publishing House” in December 2016 - book link in Japanese

Ms. Branka Takahashi was born in 1970 in Serbia. She graduated Japanese language and literature at the Univesity of Belgrade and since 1995 lives in Japan with her family while occasionally living abroad as well. Apart from writing, she also translates from Serbian, Russian and Japanese. Her books have been published in Serbia and Russia and she was also awarded by Kraljevo Book Club 2015 Award. 『東京まで、セルビア Srbija do Tokija』is the first book of the author to be published in Japan.

Opening the event, Ambassador of Serbia Mr. Nenad Glišić welcomed the guests, expressing satisfaction that a book with such a title was being presented in Tokyo on the day Serbia was celebrating the New Year according to the Julian calendar. The event, attended by more than 100 guests, was also addressed by publisher Mr. Iijima, and author B. Takahashi, who read excerpts from the book together with Mr Nishimura, an actor from "A La Place" Theatre Company.

Book signing by the author followed, along with a cocktail at which traditional Serbian food and drinks were served.
