Entry of foreign citizens into the territory of the Republic of Serbia (May 14, 2020)

In accordance with the decision on closing all border crossings for entry into the Republic of Serbia ("Official Gazette of RS", No. 37/20 of 19 March 2020), which was adopted in order to prevent the spread of the infectious disease COVID-19, all border crossings for entry of passengers into the Republic of Serbia are closed. Exceptionally, in accordance with national interests and for humanitarian reasons, entry through border crossings into the Republic of Serbia may be temporarily enabled on the basis of a previously issued approval of the competent state administration body of the Republic of Serbia.

1. For the purpose of protection against the introduction of infectious diseases into the territory of the Republic of Serbia, foreign nationals who do not have the status of temporary or permanent resident in the Republic of Serbia shall be allowed to enter the Republic of Serbia if they possess:

(1) negative PCR test for the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus, not older than 72 hours from issuance by the reference laboratory of the country from which they come or enter the Republic of Serbia
and
(2) entry or transit permit for the Republic of Serbia issued by the working body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, issued when there are particularly justified reasons for that.

The submission of requests for entry or transit permit for this category of foreign citizens should be made through their diplomatic and consular missions accredited in the Republic of Serbia.

Children of foreign nationals up to the age of 12 do not have to be tested for the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, if a parent, guardian or a person from the family household accompanying the child has the above negative test.

The abovementioned category of foreign citizens who need the permit from the working body of the Government in order to enter Serbia  can get more information about the process of applying for a permit by e-mail info.covid-19@gov.rs

2. Foreign nationals with the status of temporary or permanent residence in the Republic of Serbia may apply to the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Tokyo for the permit to enter Serbia.

In order to prevent the occurrence, spread and control of the infectious disease COVID-19, upon acquiring the permit and entering the Republic of Serbia the abovementioned category of foreign nationals  will be placed under medical supervision for acute respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus for a period of 14 days (isolation at home) or other health surveillance measure determined by an act of the Minister responsible for health affairs in accordance with the epidemiological situation.

Upon entering the Republic of Serbia, this category of foreign nationals will not be placed under health supervision for acute respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus for a period of 14 days (isolation at home) if:

- they have a negative PCR test for the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus, not older than 72 hours from the date of issue by the reference laboratory of the country from which they come or enter the Republic of Serbia,
or
- they have been abroad for no longer than 72 hours, and no symptoms of infectious disease COVID-19 are observed.

Children under the age of 12 do not have to be tested for the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, if a parent, guardian or a person from the family household accompanying the child has a negative test.
