With the support of the Chairman of the Yokohama company “Toa Gas” company Mr. Toshio Tanabe and in order to deepen the knowledge on, geography, history, culture, economic and tourism potentials of Serbia, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Tokyo organized a presentation of Serbia on 20 June 2016 for 22 students of Keio University, Kanagawa University, Chuo University, Nihon Joshi University and Toyo Eiwa University. Introductory remarks were given by Ambassador of Serbia H.E. Mr. Nenad Glišić, former member of Diet member and Representative Director of IEEA (International Economic Exchange Association) Mr. Kenzo Yoneda, member of the Yokohama City Council Mr. Naoki Furukawa, honorary citizen of Belgrade, president of the Japan-Serbia Society and former Ambassador to Serbia Mr. Tadashi Nagai and Toyo Eiwa Univesity Researcher Ms. Saori Machida. Introduction was followed by the presentation on Serbia with the Serbian music program and Serbian culinary delicacies. The entire event was filmed by TV Kanagawa. Presenting the history of Serbia, Mr. Kenzo Yoneda invited students to be dedicated to precise and objective history studies, while Mr. Naoki Furukawa expressed hope that better understanding of Serbia will be of help for the Japanese youth in comprehending the modern world. Ms. Saori Machida was especially grateful for the event emphasizing that students of Toyo Eiwa University currently attending the University optional module on Serbia got a chance to deepen their knowledge on Serbia. Embassy representatives Ms. Tijana Nagato and Mr. Chihaya Oyaizu held presentation on Serbia’s geography and nature, attractions of the capital city of Belgrade, main tourist spots, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as Serbian food culture.
President of the Japan – Serbia Music Exchange Association and spouse of the former Ambassador to Serbia Ms. Etsuko Tsunozaki on violin, followed by Ms. Rika Fukuda on piano, held a short concert dressed in Serbian national costumes performing Serbian composer Stevan Mokranjac’s works and traditional Serbian songs. Ambassador of Serbia H.E. Mr. Nenad Glišić joined them on guitar in performing some of the Serbian evergreens.
