In coopration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Embassy organized "Serbian Month" at the premises of the JICA Global Plaza in Tokyo.

"Serbian Month" included photo exhibition of Serbian scenic beauties, world heritage sites and traditional artefacts as well as video presentations and an opportunity to sample Serbian dishes at the JICA restaurant. Also various presentations were held on the Serbian culture and customs, tourist potential, sports and on its cooperation with Japan.

In his speech at the opening, Ambassador Nenad Glišić underlined the excellent cooperation carried out between Serbia and this Japanese agency, expressing his gratitude for the significant support it had extended to Serbia over the past two decades. In this context, the Ambassador recalled several projects having been realized so far – namely, the flue gas desulphurization construction project for Thermal Power Plant Nikola Tesla, medical equipment donations as well as those in the fields of transport and sports, and support offered to small and medium-sized enterprises. Serbian students attending Saitama University, Ana Logo and Simon Marić, dressed in Serbian national costumes, also participated at the opening

"Serbian Day" on 2 February included a series of seminars and workshops about the Serbian cultural heritage, language, folk dances and traditional cuisine, all held in the Japanese language. 

At the Serbian language workshop held by Embassy representatives Mr. Chihaya Oyaizu and Ms. Ivana Golubović Duboka provided general information about Serbia and its language, the Cyrillic script, and also taught those in attendance some Serbian words used in greeting and simple expressions.

Author Ms. Branka Takahashi showcased Serbian heritage in Kosovo and Metohija inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in a video presentation, while students attending Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) presented Serbian folk music and dances. The attendees had an opportunity to be taught steps of the Serbian "Uzicko kolo" folk dance by the presenters. Ms. Tijana Nagato of the Serbian Embassy prepared meals traditionally served on Christmas Day, patron saint days (slava) and at Easter time.
