Exhibition staged by the Nikola Tesla Museum was formally launched on 26 January in Hofu Science Museum Solar, Yamaguchi Prefecture, at the initiative of the Japan-Serbia Association. Three tons of museum stock have been transported from the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade including solar panels, models of laboratories and the Tesla coil, while the Tesla bust was loaned from the Serbian Embassy. The exhibition closes on 3 March. At a formal dinner hosted on the eve of the exhibition's opening at the Grand Hofu Hotel, Mayor of Hofu City Yutaka Ikeda, Ambassador Nenad Glisic, Acting Director of the Nikola Tesla Museum Ivona Jevic and a local parliamentary representative in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Noriaki Shimada gave speeches. In addition to the exhibition about Tesla, another one opened in Hofu on the same date, showcasing photographs of Serbian monuments inscribed on the world heritage list, hosted by the Hofu UNESCO Association at the Aspirato Cultural Centre. The photographs on display were provided by the Embassy, National Tourism Organization of Serbia, Serbian Olympic Committee and the Nikola Tesla Museum. The exhibition will be open for visitors until 27 February. Ambassador Glisic thanked the organizers of both exhibitions and spoke in favour of deepening the relations, not only in culture and sports but in all other cooperation areas as well. Opening the exhibition hosted by the Hofu UNESCO Association, he pointed out that the Serbian heritage in Kosovo and Metohija was under threat, stressing that churches were damaged and set on fire there, while ISIS graffiti appeared on monuments, and called for support and institutional assistance of Japan in the context of Serbia's endeavour to preserve its roots and culture. The City of Hofu will play host to the Serbian volleyball national team during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
