The lecture was attended by over 350 students and encompassed the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and the importance of ensuring respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the history of Serbia including the period of former Yugoslavia. A short promotional video of the Tourism Organisation of Serbia was screened at the end of the lecture.

In the follow-up Q&A Session, the students of the Aoyama Gakuin Univesity were interested in the breakup of former Yugoslavia and the period of the erstwhile Yugoslavia’s president J.B. Tito, foreign policy challenges Serbia is facing in 21st century, Chinese investments in Serbian infrastructure projects and the possibilities of Japanese investments in this sector, particularly railways.

Professor Haba later informed us on the positive impressions of the students, most of which are majoring in European International Relations. Students found the lecture useful, especially the part about the mixture of influences from East and West. There were also some students who found the lecture helpful in changing stereotypes of Serbia and inspiring them to want to visit Serbia which they understood is a beautiful country. Also, a group of students studying J.B. Tito and the breakup of former Yugoslavia while planning to apply for the Article Award of the Aoyama Gakuin University requested cooperation and help in further study which was accepted by Ambassador Glišić with great pleasure.
