Nine short movies from Serbia and one animated from Japan were shown on 1 and 2 June at the International Film Festival in Niigata, within a special program entitled "Selection of the Japanese – Serbian Film Festival (JSFF)".
Embassy representatives Jelena Nikolić and Chiya Oyaizu presented to the audience basic information about Serbia and explained the topics addressed in the films. Jaksa Nikodijevic, a JSFF representative, talked about the parallels between Japanese and Serbian cinematography, history of the Japanese-Serbian film festival and successful cultural exchange thanks to festivals featuring Japanese and Serbian films in Serbia and Japan.
The following movies that were screened: Whirlwind, the World Champion, Hide And Seek, Love, Bon Voyage, Stevan M. Zivkovic, ISKON Anima Aeternam, The Same, Closing Time and Japanese movie Banal Man. The International film festival in Niigata will be held from 31 May through 7 June.
